Henna Tattoo Aftercare Instructions

The vibrancy and duration of your new henna tattoo depends on many factors. Your tattoo should reach peak stain within 48 hours and last between 7 to 10 days. The stain will fade completely in about three weeks as your skin exfoliates. By following these simple instructions, you can achieve the best henna tattoo possible.

  • Leave the paste on your skin for as long as possible. It will naturally begin to dry and crumble off- try to resist the urge to remove it all at once! The longer the paste is in contact with your skin, the darker the stain will be.

  • Keep the area as warm as you can. Heat helps to intensify the stain. This is why henna always stains darkest on the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet.

  • When you are ready to remove any remaining paste, DO NOT wash it off with water! What hasn't naturally fallen away can be gently rubbed or scraped off. Water halts the staining process, leaving you with a much lighter tattoo.

  • Try to avoid getting your tattoo wet or coming into contact with lotions, cleansers, or soaps as much as you can. When washing your hands or showering, using an all natural oil such as olive or coconut is a great way to seal the tattoo and inhibit the exfoliation process. Try to avoid swimming as both chlorine and water are natural enemies to your beautiful new henna.
